Year 9 GCSE Options Process 2025

The GCSE Options process is an exciting time for students and their parents/carers to turn to the next stage in their educational journey; considering which subjects they would like to study for the next two years. Please see below an outline of the GCSE Options Process.

Thursday 23^rd January – Year 9 Options Subject Assembly

Year 9 students will have an assembly informing them about GCSE courses in their subject areas; students will receive an overview of each subject including brief details of curriculum content and methods of assessment. The GCSE Options process will be discussed further during subsequent PSHCEE lessons, and our Year 10/11 Ambassadors will make themselves available to Year 9 for a week at breaktimes for questions and feedback. 

The Year 9 Options information booklet will be released to parents to help better inform.  

Tuesday 30^th January – online Year 9 Parents’/Carers’ Consultation Evening 4.30pm to 7.30pm

The Parents’/Carers’ Consultation Evening will provide an opportunity to discuss your child's learning and progress based on their recent Autumn Term report and current performance. This will help to inform your decisions when making GCSE choices.   

Week commencing Monday 10^th February – Options Forms sent home  

An e-mail will be sent during the week containing a link to submit GCSE options.

Monday 24^th February – Deadline for Options Forms 

The deadline for receiving back GCSE Options is Monday 24^th February. It may be necessary for some families to discuss their choices in more detail once we have reviewed the submissions, and we will be in touch with you individually should this be the case.
