Early Years at SMSJ

Application process for a Reception place

September 2019 entry

 

We plan to admit 90 pupils to Reception in September 2019. To be considered for a place, you must complete the Common Application Form for the Local Authority where you live and list the name the school as one of your choices on the form. The closing date for a Reception place is 15 January 2019.

Please read the admissions criteria for Primary Admissions (below) for further information about admission to the school.  

Applicants who are applying for a Foundation Place under criteria 4, 5 or 6 should complete the school’s Supplementary Information Form so that the Governors on the Admission Committee can consider the application fully. The “SIF” must be returned to the school before 15 January 2019.

Application process for a Nursery place

September 2019 entry

Open Afternoons: Wednesday 13th and Tuesday 26th February 2019, 1.30pm
Open Mornings: Friday 1st and Tuesday 5th March 2019, 9.15am

We plan to admit 52 pupils to Nursery in September 2019. To be considered for a place, you must complete the Application Form or the Supplementary Information Form depending on the admissions criterion you wish to apply under. 
The deadline to submit the form is 15 March 2019.

Children are entitled to 15 hours free Nursery provision which will be made up of five morning or five afternoon nursery sessions, each weekday. We also have the option of extending your child’s day at the nursery once they have settled and usually start after the October half term, the options are explained below.  

Morning nursery is from 8:30am – 11:30am

Morning Nursery with paid extended day option

Option 1

8:30am – 12:30pm 

This will include a break for lunch as part of the Lunchtime club, your child must bring a packed lunch.  There will be a £4.00 daily charge for this 1 hour session, payable termly in advance and non-refundable.

Option 2

 

8:30am – 3:15pm

 

This will include a break for lunch as part of the Lunchtime club; your child must bring a packed lunch; plus an option to stay at nursery until the end of the school day.  There will be a charge of £18.00 per session, payable termly in advance and non-refundable.

 

Afternoon nursery is from 12.15pm - 3.15pm

Afternoon Nursery with paid extended day option

11:15pm – 3:15pm

Option 2

8:30am – 3:15pm 

This will include a break for lunch as part of the Lunchtime club; your child must bring a packed lunch; plus an option to stay at nursery until the end of the school day.  There will be a charge of £18.00 per session, payable termly in advance and non-refundable.

Application process for a Year 7 place

September 2019 entry

 

We plan to admit 180 pupils this year to Year 7 in September 2019. To be considered for a place, you must complete the Common Application Form for the local authority where you live and name the school as one of your choices on the form. This must be done by October 31st 2018. Further information about completing the Common Application Form .

Please read the admissions criteria for secondary admission for further information about admission to the school.

Important dates

Friday 1st March 2019 - National Offer Day: the Local Authority will email you the outcome of your application. You must accept or decline your offer online by 15 March 2019.

In-year admissions

You should make an in-year admission application if

  • your child lives in Barnet and does not currently have a school place

  • your child has recently moved to Barnet from abroad or elsewhere and needs a school place

  • your child has a school place but you want to transfer them to a school in Barnet
