Welcome to the Lower School at SMSJ where we provide excellent education for children from Nursery through to Year 4.  We have three forms of entry in each year group from Reception.  Children transition to our middle school site (Bennett House) at the end of Year 4 to continue their education.

The children are at the centre of SMSJ and our highly dedicated team of staff provide an engaging, nurturing environment for them to thrive as happy, confident individuals.  Pupils are actively encouraged to be involved with their own learning and are provided with opportunities that are relevant for their needs both now and in the future to enable them to excel.

Our curriculum is challenging, stimulating and inspiring.  It allows all pupils to experience success and to reach their full potential. We regularly celebrate all successes and achievements.

We have very high expectations of both the behaviour and learning of everyone in our school and place a strong emphasis on the shared Christian and British Values which are an integral part of our curriculum.  We want our children in the Lower School to learn, develop and practice these values including those of friendship, compassion, respect, tolerance, forgiveness, thankfulness, perseverance, hope and humility.  All values which underpin our ethos and vision.

SMSJ is a community involving staff, pupils, governors, parents/carers and the local parishes of St Mary's and St John’s churches.  We pride ourselves on our strong relationships with the community and firmly believe that education is a partnership between school and home and regard all parents and carers as active partners in their child’s education – we value your support and interest.

We are very proud of SMSJ and all those who are part of it.  If you would like to visit our school to find out more, please make an appointment via the school office (020 8202 0026).
